kicking self doubt

As the gender pay gap continues to make headlines around the world more attention is being brought to women in business than at any other time. This is a massive step forward.

Women often face a society that tells us we can’t. We can’t be paid correctly or we cannot compete in an often male dominated arena or even that we simply can’t succeed on our own.

And sadly enough it’s often women saying these things to themselves. Lack of self belief is the number one killer for women led businesses!

This of course is completely contrary to the actual facts. Women hold all the necessary skills to own and run successful businesses. Women are excellent leaders, we are multi taskers, we know how to make connections and are natural networkers. But on top of those necessary business skills, women have empathy, flexibility and understand that collaboration is key in the business arena. All of these skills can be used in business to explode growth.

And still….women don’t believe in their own abilities. Here at Her Umbrella, we aim to not only teach women the necessary skills for business but to empower women to overcome their own self doubt and tear down those class ceilings! It’s a well known fact that overcoming self doubt leads to success and here are some ways how:

1.) Source or become a role model. Share your successes and struggles. Remember that you are an inspiration to other women! Knowing other women in business can play an important role in

enhancing the ambitions of women who want to start their own businesses. It’s key to supporting their growth by providing access to ideas, opportunities and resources.

2.) Move past self doubt by finding your purpose. Successful women often own businesses so they can pursue a personal passion and to make a positive impact on the world. When you’re on a mission, you can achieve anything.

3.) Connect and support each other. Women have all the power they need to make things happen for each other. Women can mentor and support each other, they can open their diaries to collaborations, make meaningful introductions, and they can use their wealth to fund women entrepreneurs.

They no longer need to see each other as competition and can see that by supporting each other, they grow themselves.

There is no greater time than now for female entrepreneurs! We no longer need to be drowning in self doubt when there are so many other women ready to lift us up!

So tell us when self-doubt stands in your way, how will you go about kicking it to the curb?
