Issue Three - Ainsley Gatley (Event Networx)

Event Networx

Ainsley is passionate about events and over the past 12 years has had a part in many events throughout the region. These events range from large events such as the Wide Bay Australia International Airshow, Agrotrend, Crush Festival and Afloat to community events such as Ring Road Run, Walk for Women’s Cancer, Australia Day Celebrations and the Ability Ball to business events such as conferences and awards nights. With a foundation of 6 years in events roles with both Bundaberg City Council and Burnett Shire Council Ainsley has a Masters in Convention and Event Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Leisure Management majoring in Tourism and Community Arts it was the perfect time to start her own business.

Ainsley started Event Networx 12 years ago to allow her to balance work with family life. “I believe my business is successful as it has allowed me to be there for my children as they grow up and also allowed me the flexibility to work in an industry that I love. I love that I am not stuck in an office and get to engage in such a variety of events – some just for fun and some that truly make a difference to someone’s life”

Ainsley has also been a volunteer as a turtle guide at Mon Repos since 2009 and will clock up 14 years this season. In this role she guides visitor groups onto the beach undertaking both research and interpretive roles. “ Being a volunteer is my time – I’m not a mum, wife or working. I love to get out and walk the beach at night and I hope that through my actions I am teaching my kids first hand to respect the environment and we can all make a difference in our community”.

Events are a great way to bring a community together. They bring important economic, social and cultural benefits to the community and are an important tool for groups to share their passion and celebrate.

We are thrilled to feature her in Issue Three of Her Umbrella Magazine!
